Rosehip Rubiginosa

Many skincare products contain the rosehip oil variety known as Rosehip Canina. At Botanical Elixir we use a more rare and magical variety (of course…) called Rosehip Rubiginosa. Like many other plant oils it is a nice nourishing and moisturising oil loaded with fatty acids.

What makes this variety special that it also contains the miracle active, trans-retinoic acid, aka tretinoin.

It is the main bioactive component of the oil and has fantastic abilities including:

  • restoring and regenerating tissues (the oil is great for scars and burns),

  • delivers visible results that help restore deterioration caused by age and sun damage

  • helps your skin speed up cell turnover which regulates and promotes healthier, younger looking skin and

  • making enlarged pores less visible.

The tretinoin content of rosehip seed oil greatly depends on the extraction method. The oil coming from cold pressing contained seven times more tretinoin (0.357 ml/l) than the oil from organic solvent extraction. And we promise, our oil is cold pressed and chock a block full of tretinoin.

Shhh…now, don’t go and tell everyone!

Luna Essence contains Rosehip Rubiginosa.
